A night off...

No tape for tonight for a 2 reasons:

1. Larry put the kids to bed, and claims not to know how to work the recorder (his way of getting out of it)
2. I am having a busy evening with a work conference call that just ended, and some other things to do tonight.

So we are taking tonight off.

But I was thinking about one thing from last night -- their discussion about peeing on mommy's shoe, and mommy yelling. That did happen, but about 2 weeks ago. Here's the story. On our flight back from Disney World, Ian pooped on the plane. Now when a 2 (almost 3-year-old) poops, it reeks (not to mention it is uncomfortable for the kid). So I had to change him. I brought both him and Alex into the teeny-tiny bathroom on the plane and changed both of them. As you can imagine (but try not to, for you own sake!) we were crammed in there and barely able to move. I changed Ian while he stood on the closed toilet, and I also changed Alex. As we walked back down the aisle to our seats, I was feeling pretty proud of myself. Look at me, in an airplane bathroom with twin 2-year-olds, and I changed them both and wow, just look at me! If I could have patted myself on the back, I would have.

Fast-forward a few hours and we are home, just finished dinner, about to heard upstairs. All of a sudden, Alex points at something on the floor and says it's yucky.  Yucky indeed. It was poop. On the kitchen floor. In our house.

Apparently my diapering skills in the bathroom barely built for 1 were not as good as I thought. When Ian pooped, the diaper fell right off on one side, and the poop then proceeded to fall right off onto the floor. In the kitchen (did I mention that?).

We went upstairs and I stripped the boys down to get ready for their baths. It was then that a stream of liquid hit my shoe. I followed it up to where it was coming from, and it was Ian. For some reason, my instinct was to scream out in surprise (the boys have never peed like that, so I was completely surprised by it), which led to Ian being freaked out and crying. Apparently they still remember the incident. I'm just hoping they forget about it by the time we start to potty train them.  And if they don't forget, then I guess I'll use it as my excuse for Larry to be the lead on training them. Hmmm...let me think about how I can make this work for me.
