21 - Muffled microphone

Tonight Max wanted to sing to the boys before bed. I left him in there with them with the recorder running. Unfortunately, when Max left, he threw a blanket over the microphone portion, so the conversation between the boys was too muffled for me to transcribe. Fortunately, though, I captured the exchange between Max and the boys before he left the room. Tomorrow morning, Ellie and Max are going to their grandma (Gagy)'s house to sleep over. They were supposed to leave tonight, but weather was bad, so they are leaving in the morning, for the hour-long drive.

Max finishes singing twinkle twinkle little star, and then:

Max - Good night little boys
I and A - Night night
Max - I might not see you in the morning. I might not see you in the morning
I - Why?
Max - Because I'll be driving to an oasis...and then I'll go to Gagy's house. Ok? (Gagy told them tonight maybe they'd eat breakfast at an oasis)
I - Ok
Max - I'll have to wake up early
A - K. You?
I - I will wake up first early
Max - But goodbye if I don't see you. Bye. Bye. Are you sad? Cuz I'm going?
I - Cuz I need my beanie boo (we cannot find his stuffed animal tonight! I have looked everywhere!)
Max - Bye Alex. Are you sad that I'm leaving?
A - No
Max - You're happy?
A - Yeah
Max - Why?
A - Cuz
Max - Cuz you need a break from, from me telling mommy things bad you're doing?
A - Yeah
Max - But, but that's good. You know why?  Because then, because then you'll know how to do the right thing and you'll do it. And we'll all be daddies.
I - I want my beanie boo (apparently Ian is very focused on that stuffed animal)
Max - When she finds it, she'll put it in your bed. Good night.

Max is 5, and about as sweet as they come! He had this conversation with them in a soft, sweet voice, clearly looking for someone to be sad that he is leaving. I'll be sure to tell him tomorrow morning before he leaves that I'm sad he's leaving.
