Welcome to my blog! In this blog, I am going to have transcripts of conversations between my twin almost 3-year-old sons, from the time I leave their room at night until I go to bed.
When I found out I was pregnant with twins (a total surprise, we were going for number 3 and got 3 and 4!!), a friend of mine told me his sister has twins and she sometimes stands outside their room and listens to them talk, and it's hysterical. My boys have just started really verbalizing and communicating, so when they started talking to each other in bed, I remembered what he had told me. I told my mom they are talking in bed, and she said, "Boy, I'd love to be a fly on the wall in there. I wonder what they talk about." So that got me thinking: what do 2 2-year-olds talk about, when left alone, with limited language skills?
I decided to start videotaping them each night, from lights out until they are asleep. I am curious myself as to what they discuss, and I am hoping the transcripts are entertaining! If anything, they will provide insight into what little kids talk about when no one is listening.
I started taping them last night and will transcript it shortly. I'm not sure yet if I am going to type in the way they talk (with their mispronunciations) or not, but I'm sure it will become clear soon if I should or not.
The boys are Ian and Alex; denoted by I and A at the beginning of each line, indicating who is talking.
Enjoy!
OMG - this is amazing. Those boys are hilarious and beyond adorable. I don't know how you're finding the time to do this, but it's such a gift to us, and it will definitely be a gift to them when they're older.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this, Jane! Last time I was over, I watched the boys talk to each other as they threw every bath toy they found into the tub. They were instructing each other on what to do, or maybe just describing their actions aloud to one another. It was sooo cute. Auntie Fran is eager for more!
